Making her solo debut at the age of 10 with the Kalamazoo Symphony Orchestra, Songhea went on to receive numerous prestigious awards for piano and Violin performance, including the American String Teachers Association, and scholarships for Interlochen Summer Arts and Meadowmount School of Music. After completing a Violin Performance degree from the University of Michigan, Songhea served as member of the Ann Arbor Symphony and received the Kapnick Scholar Fellowship Award to continue her studies with Almita Vamos at Northwestern University and the Civic Orchestra Of Chicago. 
Songhea is currently a member of the Chicago Arts Orchestra, and Camerata Chicago giving numerous performances throughout North America and Europe. She has recorded with Albany, Cedille, Navona Records, The Four Seasons, with Camerata Chicago and DMD Classics and most recently Phantasy Quartet by Imgoen Holst in collaboration with Prohairesis. As founder of Parkwest Strings, Songhea has had the privilege of providing over 20 years of live music for events in Chicago and Metro Area. 
An experienced teacher, Songhea believes in developing a lifelong love of music in her students, even if they choose not to pursue it professionally. She believes that every child has the potential to express themselves musically, and it is a teacher's main challenge to find a way to identify and grow their talent
